Terms and Conditions

 

1. Eligibility

To apply for the Fellows Program, all applicants must:

  1. Be a resident or citizen of Australia
  2. Be a current employee or Officer or a volunteer of The Salvation Army (TSA), Australia Territory (AUE and AUS)
  3. Have an outstanding (Grade 1/2) work performance, which is noted in their last performance review. This performance review must be included in the application (volunteers and new employees are exempt from this criteria)
  4. Not have been awarded a Fellows Scholarship in the last two years (2016 and 2017)
  5. Submit final application using the online form between 4 April and 4 May 2018 

 

2. Terms of Selection

Applicants will be considered by the Fellows Committee on the basis of their contribution to The Salvation Army, including:

  1. Their expertise
  2. Past accomplishments and work performance
  3. Potential positive impact on TSA from their professional development and shared learning’s

 

3. Application Requirements

If the Terms of Selection are met, applications will be reviewed and assessed based on the submission of the documents below:

3.1 Written rationale outlining:

    1. The benefits of the course/program to TSA and the applicant
    2. Relevance of the course/conference/program to the applicant’s role and potential growth opportunities
    3. Reasons for the Fellows Committee to support the application
    4. Information regarding how the learnings of the course/conference/program will be shared across TSA

 

3.2 Course Information

a. Brochure/Flyer from the Institution

b. Published fee information

c. Dates of course/conference/program

 

3.3 Two Internal TSA Reference Letters

  1. One written reference from the applicant’s direct Manager, specifically outlining the relevance and benefits of potential learnings. NOTE: Where the line manager is a relative, a reference must be obtained from the next level of leadership
  2. Second written reference from a relevant TSA source outlining the foreseen benefits of the course to TSA and role of the applicant
    NOTE: This must be a professional reference (not a character reference)

 

3.4 Performance Review

  1. Last performance review must be provided with all Fellows applications (Officers included)
  2. Performance reviews must be no more than two years old (2016/2017). If a performance review has not been undertaken, or is more than two years old, a new review must be completed with the template provided.
  3. This criteria of obtaining a performance review does not apply to volunteers and new employees.

 

4. Conditions of Successful Fellows Scholarship

4.1 Reimbursements

  1. Successful recipients will receive clear written instructions regarding access to the Scholarship, reimbursements and booking of the approved course/conference/program (along with travel and accommodation where necessary)
  2. Recipients must agree to appropriately use the funds awarded as outlined in their application to cover course costs and any associated costs to attend the course. Any misuse of funds will result in cancellation of the scholarship
  3. If the successful recipient leaves their employment with The Salvation Army within a year of completing their course or program, they may be asked to repay the scholarship awarded
  4. All successful recipients must use the scholarship within the financial year of winning the scholarship.
  5. The scholarship can only be used for approved course/conference/program; it cannot be transferred to any other course/conference/program

4.2 Reporting

  1. Upon booking the course/conference/program, recipients are required to provide their Scholarship Report (using provided template) within two months of completion

4.3 Promotions

  1. Fellows recipients agree to the use of their image and report for promotional purposes
  2. Fellows’ recipients will be recognised as ambassadors for the program, encouraging others to set high goals for themselves. Ambassadors may be promoted through internal media stories, presentations and publications
