It felt like coming home - I know it is the right fit.

In January this year, Woodport Aged Care Plus Retirement Village in Erina welcomed a new chaplain to their team, Val Hopewell. Her role of caring for the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of residents is a perfect fit.

Long-time local to the Central Coast, Val Hopewell is no stranger to aged care. She has spent the last five and half years working in funeral services, and before that she worked primarily in dementia care.

“Caring for people is my passion and I am very excited to be back in aged care,” says Val. “I missed working with the elderly and I know this is my calling,” she says.

Emotional and spiritual care is an integral part of Woodport Aged Care Plus. There is a chaplain at the centre seven days a week working with residents, families and staff during both good times and times of distress.

Val shares The Salvation Army Aged Care Plus passion to bring daily purpose, quality and meaning to life for everyone who lives in Woodport Aged Care Plus Retirement Village.
