Just Say Yes, a beautiful new book profiling the lives of 12 retired Salvation Army Officers, has been launched in Sydney.

The book is an initiative between Aged Care Plus and the Territorial Mission and Resource Team – Social.

Aged Care Plus Mission, Pastoral and Personnel Director, Major Beatrice Kay, says the book highlights the wonderful journey Salvation Army officers experience.

“The reason we made it was because we didn’t want to lose the history of Salvation Army officers,” says Major Beatrice Kay.

Major Kay would like to give all Salvationists, from cadets to local churches, the opportunity to read this stories, to encourage them to do more for God.

“People will read this book and say ‘What a journey. I want to travel on that journey too’,” she says.

Commissioner Barry Pobjie, who features in the book with his wife Raemor, spoke at the launch about the honour of being chosen for the book.

“We were amazed at the stories and were humbled, truthfully, to think that we might be included in the book. We were conscious of the immense and amazing privilege of being included with some of the great heroes of our Army in this territory”.

He went on to share what just saying ‘yes’ to God meant to him. “It’s not just about saying ‘yes’. If we know the outcome, if we know the end result, it’s easy enough to say ‘yes’. But it’s saying ‘yes’ when we don’t know what that entails,” says Commissioner Pobjie.

Aged Care Plus CEO Sharon Callister spoke at the launch, thanking the team for their efforts in creating the book, and Commissioner James Condon offered a prayer of dedication.

The book has been dedicated to Brigadier Hazel Woodbury, who was Promoted to Glory in 2010. Since the book has been written, Commisioner Allistair Cairns and Major Rodney Towerton have also been Promoted to Glory.

  1. Hey,
Just wanted to say that I'm so stoked and proud that this book is being dedicated to my Great Nana Hazel Woodbury. She was a legend of the faith and I loved spending time with her and listening to her passion and zeal for God (Which still remained even at 105 years of age)
She never failed to pray and encourage me every time I visited, She was a legend of the faith and her family are walking in the generational blessing that she has set before us.
    Awesome guys.
