Cadets of the “Disciples of the Cross” session have a reason to celebrate after they received their diplomas during a ceremony held at The Salvation Army Earlwood Corps last week.

The celebration on 21 November was witnessed by the training college staff and family and friends, as the cadets stood as a testament to the holistic and integrated training the Salvation Army Training College offers.

This marks the achievement of two years of residential training for the cadets, the second stage of their three-stage officer training.

This coming Sunday, 1 December, the 19 graduates will be officially commissioned as officers of The Salvation Army at Sydney Town Hall, with the ceremony also streamed live online.

“There is a crescendo of joyful noise at the School for Officer Training, as the staff and cadets prepare for what will be a great weekend of celebration,” says Major Stuart Evans, the Training Principal at the School for Officer Training.

The ordination and commissioning meeting will take place on Sunday, beginning at 10am AEDT, with special guests from the PNG territory, Colonels Neil and Chris Webb, who will be enrolling two PNG cadets.

There will be a sending out celebration service following the commissioning at 2.30pm AEDT, with The Movement, a celebration of youth in mission, to begin at 6pm AEDT.

For those unable to attend the commissioning, all three Sunday services will be streamed live via my.salvos.org.au/commissioning.
