The 2014 Fellows Program scholarships are now open, supporting those who make a positive difference to The Salvation Army.

Scholarships of up to $5,000 are available for talented individuals to help cover course costs, travel and living expenses for self and professional development.

Innovated and funded by Aged Care Plus, the fellows program is open to all Salvation Army employees, officers and volunteers. Applications are evaluated by the Fellows Program Committee, comprised of representatives from Booth College, human resources and Aged Care Plus and chaired by the Aged Care Plus CEO.

“Last year we issued 18 scholarships and extended the scholarship to include volunteers. This year we are looking forward to a competitive set of applications across The Salvation Army from both employees and volunteers,” says Aged Care Plus Acting CEO Peter Bewert.

Each application is considered with respect to the course’s content and relevance to The Salvation Army, the applicant’s work performance and the applicant’s contribution to the Army. Successful fellows will be announced in July 2014. While there are no quotas or limits, up to 10 scholarships are usually awarded each year.

One of 18 recipients in 2013 was Aged Care Plus Marketing and Communications Manager Alana Parker. Ms Parker says receiving the scholarship was a wonderful recognition of her work and a great boost to her professional development.

“I’ve benefited greatly from attending the leadership course funded by the Fellows Scholarship and I have been keenly sharing my learnings with colleagues. This program is a wonderful demonstration of just how much The Salvation Army values its employees, officers and volunteers,” says Ms Parker.

If you are a talented and committed Salvation Army employee, officer or volunteer, submit your application now.

Applications close on 13 June 2013. Apply online at www.my.salvos.org.au/events/2014/05/01/fellows-scholarship-program/.
