Aged Care Plus is changing lives, one step at a time.

Over five days next week, Aged Care Plus will stage its annual Walkathon, hoping to crack the $100,000 mark for the second year running.

A record $111,670 was raised last year with about 1500 people taking part.

“I am thrilled with the possibility of reaching our target of $100,000 two years in a row as it means we can help so many more people in our local and international communities,” said Aged Care Plus CEO Sharon Callister.

“It is a fantastic time for everyone involved and I really encourage you to get out there, walk and donate to an amazing cause.”

Two of the beneficiaries of this year's fundraiser will be Australia's drought-affected farmers, while money will also go towards helping children in remote communities of north India.

One of the benefactors of last year's walkathon was the Riverview Farm project, run out of the Bundamba Corps in Queensland.

The project was able to employ a full-time Community Support Worker and establish educational lunches to show people how to cook economical and healthy meals.

Captain Ben Johnson, Bundamba Corps Officer, was extremely grateful for the funds that had been provided from the Aged Care Plus Walkathon.

“We are so grateful to Aged Care Plus for raising this money for us. The community lunches are open to all the community and provide an environment where people can find support, enjoyment and further assistance should they require it,” said Captain Johnson.

This year, 19 events will be held across Aged Care Plus from 8-12 September. To get involved or donate online visit the Aged Care Plus website.
