Direct from the TC: Carols in the Domain

Direct from the TC

This year's Carols in the Domain will have a strong Salvo focus, says Commissioner James Condon.

Dear friends,

Christmas is a time of many traditions and I am proud the Woolworth’s Carols in the Domain event in Sydney tomorrow night will again carry on their tradition of strongly featuring The Salvation Army.

These carols are a nationally broadcast event. This means that in the singing of traditional carols the gospel message that Jesus came to be a hope for all the world will be beamed into homes across Australia.

This year I encourage you to watch as the connection with our Army is particularly strong. All proceeds raised from candle bags sold at the event will be donated to The Salvation Army’s Oasis youth support network. The program will run a segment on the recent renovations at our Blacktown Youthlink centre in western Sydney.

The presenters will also be asking people to support the work and mission of The Salvation Army with donations via SMS. To donate all viewers need to do is text the word ‘HOPE’ to 0467 SALVOS (0467 725 867). It’s a simple way for people to give hope where it’s needed most this Christmas.

Today so many of the people we serve are still searching for hope in desperate situations. So I am praying that as we focus on Jesus, the Hope of the world, lives will be changed and people will find freedom and hope in Jesus.

God sent His Son Jesus as a gift of Hope to the world and we are reminded of this in Matthew 12:21 where it says, “And his name will be the hope of all the world.”

I ask that you join me in prayer for those in need of hope this Christmas. Please pray that in their search for meaning God will bring then hope and joy through his son Jesus.

Please tune in for the broadcast tomorrow night and encourage your friends and family to do the same.

God bless you.

James Condon
Territorial Commander
The Salvation Army Australia Eastern Territory.
