Lieutenant-Colonels Kelvin and Cheralynne Pethybridge will leave next year to take up new appointments in the Eastern Europe Territory.

Lieutenant-Colonels Kelvin and Cheralynne Pethybridge, officers of the Australia Eastern Territory currently serving respectively as Chief Secretary and Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries in that territory, are appointed respectively as Chief Secretary and Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries, Eastern Europe Territory.

They will begin their new appointments on 1 April 2018.

“I am very excited about the opportunity and the adventure,” Lieut-Colonel Kelvin said. “The Army is growing in the Eastern Europe Territory, and I am looking forward to being part of that, meeting new people, gaining new perspectives on life and experiencing a new part of the world.”

The Pethybridges will be based in Chisinau, capital of Moldova. The other nations making up the Eastern Europe Territory are Romania, the Republic of Georgia and Ukraine.

“It will be a whole new world to us and I have heard amazing things about it,” said Lieut-Colonel Cheralynne. “I am looking forward to serving and being part of the energy, enthusiasm and faithfulness of the people there.”

The Pethybridges will be sad to leave the Australia Eastern Territory, where they have served exclusively for 35 years. Leaving family and friends will also be difficult – especially with two new grandchildren due to arrive in March. “We are very grateful for FaceTime and the technology that will allow us to stay closely connected,” they said.

The Pethybridges have both also been extensively involved in the Australia One project during the past two years and will miss being part of its final year of development. “We look forward to seeing how it all unfolds, although from a distance,” said Lieut-Colonel Kelvin.

The Pethybridges see their officership as a journey and adventure that God has led them on for 35 years, and as one they will continue to follow.

“When we said yes to God, our focus was corps officership,” said Lieut-Colonel Cheralynne. “We have served in that way and have also ended up doing things we never thought we would do. God has always been in it. And he is in it now. Wherever he calls us, we will follow.

“We have been assured of people’s prayers in these days of preparation and transition and just blown away by the beautiful messages of support and encouragement. We are blessed.”

Lieut-Colonel Kelvin says there is no question about walking through the doors God is opening to them.

“God has continually led us throughout our officership and we believe that he will continue to do that,” he said. “That is our assurance. God has called us and he will equip us and direct our path – wherever that may be.”

The Pethybridges will be serving with Eastern Europe Territorial Leaders, Colonels Jostein and Magna Nielsen. “We look forward to serve together with you in a challenging part of the world with wonderful people in all four countries, sharing the vision and mission,” Colonel Jostein said. “He who has called you is faithful!”
