Red Shield Appeal 2019 in full flight The Red Shield Appeal continues to gain momentum with thousands of people attending launches in capital and regional cities throughout Australia. In addition to raising important funds to support delivering our mission throughout Australia, the Red Shield Appeal helps people from all walks of life, understand ways that we are working towards our national vision of ‘Wherever there is hardship or injustice, Salvos will live, love and fight, alongside others, to transform Australia, one life at a time, with the love of Jesus.’ The Red Shield Appeal culminates at the Red Shield Appeal Doorknock on 25-26 May, where 80 per cent of funds raised will be allocated back to local corps. It’s a key way that corps will be able to rally their communities and deliver local outcomes. Further information

Celebrate National Volunteer Week, 20-16 May 2019 National Volunteer Week (NVW) is an opportunity to celebrate our Army of volunteers with the theme of ‘Making a world of difference’ which encapsulates the time, commitment and compassion that our dedicated volunteers bring to help deliver our mission. In Commissioner Floyd and Tracey Tidd’s NVW Letter of Thanks, they write ‘As we enter National Volunteer Week and take the time to reflect on this year's theme 'Making a world of difference', it has become increasingly evident that we could not do, what we do, without volunteers, without you.’ Download and share the letter with volunteers in your mission expressions. While we believe it’s important to thank our volunteers every day, National Volunteer Week is especially dedicated to them! We say thanks for all they bring to The Salvation Army, for what they do to help transform lives and for the way they live our values. Further information National Volunteer Week runs from 20 – 26 May 2019 and the Volunteer Resources team have developed a number of resources to help you thank, recognise and celebrate our volunteers available here. |
Transformational Leadership Intensive available A two week intensive course on transformational leadership will run from 11-21 June 2019 and explore the biblical model of leadership and an intentional strategy for personal growth. The lecturer is Major Dr Grant Sandercock-Brown, a published author with a wealth of knowledge and experience about ways to bring a new depth to leadership.
