Attendees were privy to a preview of Aged Care Plus’ newest and most innovative residential aged care centre when Salvation Army Commissioner, James Condon, officially opened Elizabeth Jenkins Place on Saturday 15 June.

“As soon as I entered the new building I said, ‘Wow!’” says Commissioner Condon. “What a great homely feeling. A magnificent facility developed by our Aged Care Plus team.” Elizabeth Jenkins Place Aged Care Plus Centre is a state-of-the-art residential aged care centre. Designed by industry experts, its home-like environment not only offers residents with a great place to live, but one in which they can receive the very best care. During Saturday’s opening tour, future residents expressed great delight at their new home. “The rooms are fabulous and the dining rooms just delightful!” says Betty. “It’s first class, with good large rooms,” says Doug.

Ted, currently living at Warringah Place Retirement Village, can’t wait to move in: “It’s so roomy with a beautiful design and a place that is safe and will be very special to live in,” he says. The centre is made up of seven low-rise houses with each house containing its own kitchen, living area and private dining room.

In the communal areas, the centre offers residents, families and friends a putting green, freestanding chapel, café, shop, hairdressers and medical precinct making it a vibrant community hub for people of all ages.

“The chapel is central to the facility and on the wall are the words, ‘the love of Christ compels us.’ This is the motivation for all that we do,” says Commissioner Condon. This newest residential aged care centre is a chance for Aged Care Plus to truly deliver person-to-person care that goes beyond the physical to ensure each resident is healthy, comfortable and above all, loved. Elizabeth Jenkins Place Aged Care Plus Centre will welcome its first residents in September 2013.
