Jennifer awarded for excellence in dementia care
Jennifer Pulu, care services employee at Elizabeth Jenkins Place Aged Care Plus Centre, was recently recognised for her excellence in dementia care by the Flinders University Dementia Dynamics project.
Jennifer was one of ten people awarded the Dementia Dynamics Personal Carer Fellowship from hundreds of nominations across Australia.
In recognition for her commitment, Jennifer is invited to attend the 30th International Conference of Alzheimer's Disease International in Perth and will receive support for a professional development project of her choice in dementia care to further her education in this area.
“It’s great to receive recognition for the work I do. I feel honoured to be able to give our residents a sense of wellbeing; the feeling of being at home and loved,” said Jennifer Pulu.
With the support of this Fellowship, Jennifer’s chosen project is to create a sensory rainforest pathway for residents. The centre’s courtyard will be transformed into a calming and relaxing atmosphere, stimulating all five senses and contributing to emotional and physical health.
“The care and wellbeing of our residents and clients is our top priority. We are constantly looking for ways to reward and recognise our dedicated employees for the high quality care they provide,” said Peter Bewert, Executive Manager, Care Services.
"Recognition from within the aged care industry is also a great achievement and testament to the commitment and dedication Jennifer has shown,” Peter added.
If you would like to further your personal and professional development, watch out for The Salvation Army’s Fellows Program which will re-open later this year.
