The theme for our Day of Prayer for Children is taken from Mark 9:37—‘Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me.’ The aim is for the congregation to explore and understand that we, as a community of believers, need to be accepting of children and not place any barrier that might hinder them from having a relationship with Jesus. The opportunity will be given for the congregation to explore (via prayer stations) some of the obstacles in life that might hinder children from connecting and encountering God. This will involve listening and identifying what might distract and fill up the lives of children, e.g. sport, television, the digital world, homework, as well as other things that might stand in the way of children connecting with God, e.g. including and welcoming of children within activities, negative attitudes towards children etc.
Mark 9:37 ‘Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me.’
Mark 10:14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
