It is one of life’s great mysteries why things work out the way they do. As Christians we believe in a good God who is kind and merciful. Yet life often gives us reasons to question that understanding of who God is.

Throughout human history God has turned up in surprising and unexpected ways. Many of his promises have been fulfilled in ways that the prophets who spoke them could never have expected, “no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:20-21 TNIV). Easter is one of those examples of where God shaped events in a surprising manner.
