Day 19 National Prayer Focus | Build Bridges to Him Part 1 with Amanda Lennestaal

AMANDA LENNESTAAL, Gender Equity Co-ordinator - Personnel

DAY 19 NATIONAL PRAYER FOCUS 2022
In my childhood, I attended Sunday School and sometimes the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well was taught. I learned that the woman was the worst of sinners, but despite that, God loved EVEN her.

We don’t see Jesus in this story as a triumphalist who drove a fancy car, listening to a leadership podcast as he asks the woman to fill in a card for church membership. Rather the woman’s gifts were present as she met Jesus’ request for water.

This simple act led way to a conversation that changed her life. Her testimony of revelation led to Samaritans inviting Jesus to come and stay with them, which he did.

I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that the woman’s spiritual transformation occurred when she experienced radical acceptance.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1. Am I part of an inclusive community in which I offer such compassion and kindness that people are transformed by the very presence of Christ in me?
2. Do people experience such grace in my spiritual community that in their excitement to tell others of what they have seen and heard they ‘leave behind their water jugs’?
