We will work to encourage and support faith communities, to actively enable participation in the arts to become a vehicle through which individuals and local communities may encounter faith and God. Therefore, we seek to 'encourage, support, challenge and develop' individuals and faith communities in their use of creative arts.
Why is Worship Arts important?
What does Worship Arts do?
What Mediums does Worship Arts Include?
Why we do it...
Worship is a crucial part of faith.
Worship brings us into the presence of God where we can praise Him, express our love for Him and give Him our complete attention. Worship also changes us when we meet with God. As He speaks to us, reveals His love, and invites us to know Him better, we are transformed.
The arts are a powerful medium. Art creates beauty and wonder in our broken, chaotic world. It advocates for and provokes change and gives us a means to express our deepest thoughts and emotions. Art speaks to our soul.
The arts are also a ‘language’ that translates between church and secular contexts, a common meeting ground. Both in performance for others and collaboration with others, the arts have a great ability to communicate messages of hope and break down resistant barriers.
This is no accident. The abundant opportunities and rich outcomes offered by creative arts are specifically designed by God and one of his gifts to us. What a privilege, opportunity, and responsibility, to use these creative gifts, for His Kingdom and His Glory.
By strengthening our worship culture, we believe our people will deepen their personal relationship with Jesus and expand their understanding of worship. By pursuing and practising authentic worship, we believe God will increase our desire for his presence and transform us through our continued responses to him.
Examples:
The church has an opportunity to use the arts- a common language with the secular world- to connect with non-believers. By engaging the community in arts activities, we can build authentic relationships, care for people and be ready for opportunities to share about our faith in Jesus.
Examples:
We believe that encouraging our creative artists to surrender their artistic gifts to God invokes a deeper connection to Him. Journeying with Jesus as they engage their craft and hone their skill produces maturity in faith as well as practical experience. Additionally, the creative works produced by this rich relationship with Jesus become the fruit of their gift, providing opportunities for others to be enriched in turn and to encounter Christ.
