There are a number of policies and procedures which detail how The Salvation Army engages and manages volunteers. Volunteers are encouraged to refer to these policies and procedures if they wish to know more.
August 2023 UPDATE:
The Mission Volunteer Policy has been updated to include a section on how we communicate to volunteers, specifically to ensure we meet our legal obligations to keep volunteers informed of certain information regarding volunteer work conditions, health and safety, plus child safe information, and that volunteers receive this information directly from the relevant departments which need to communicate such matters. Until now, these departments have relied on a volunteer's manager or corps officer to pass this information on.
We hope volunteers see this policy update as an improvement, ensuring equality in how volunteers are provided important Salvation Army information. If you would like learn more about this update, please read the Mission Volunteer Policy via the button below. Please note: To access volunteer policies and procedures, you will need to get a password from your line manager. This password is not to be shared with anyone outside of The Salvation Army.
If you have any further questions or concerns about the policy update, you can either discuss this with your manager or corps officer, or email our Volunteer Resources team via VRHelpdesk@salvationarmy.org.au.
