Welcome Actors!

Acting is a powerful tool and a gift from God. In our world today we are constantly watching and being impacted by the performances of actors- whether it is on Netflix, TV, Cinemas, Theatres or even the 'shows' your 5 year old cousins put on for you at family gatherings. Acting is a language our world understands and is cosntantly using- so we have an opportunity and responsibility to use this common 'language' to spread hope, love and the truth of Jesus!

Our prayer is that as your prepare your performances you would have encounters with the Holy Spirit and then he would use you as you perform for others for His kingdom and His glory!

On this page you will find links to places you can find scripts of various styles and for different stages of skill. You will also find links to videos of other acting performances which you can download and use in your faith community.

The Skit Guys are Tommy Woodard and Eddie James, who love Jesus and love to perform.  They fell in love with acting through their involvement in the school's theater productions, and discovered they had a knack for making people laugh. Since their high-school days, they've been writing and performing hilarious and poignant skits live and on camera.

On their website you can find hundreds of scripts, video skits and sermon illustrations (as well as other worship resources). They have a range of free and paid resources.

Through the use of applied theatre, we can grow three great qualities in our youth: independence, perseverance, and self-reflection. Each lesson is anchored in scripture with clear prompts for students to engage in thankfulness and listening prayer based on the theme of the week. Students will learn technical acting skills based in Laban and Stanislavski methods, as well as nurturing their faith, digging into scripture, and intentional prayer.

We know first-hand how difficult it can be for officers to secure leaders at a corps
level, let alone ones with theatre experience. The goal was to create a resource for young actors to be able to guide themselves through the basic preparation of a monologue without needing much (or any) assistance from an instructor. The hope is that this workbook can also serve as a resource for instructors, one that would ease the burden on local leadership by equipping them with tools to direct young actors.
