2023 Collection

Composer: arr. Sam Creamer

Composition Style: Song Arrangement

Difficulty: Medium

Notes: Philip Bliss's hymn 'Whosoever Heareth' highlights the need to spread the gospel message to all who are willing to hear it. This applies to the present day, as we live in a society focused on inclusion with no greater embrace than that of inclusion into God's kingdom. 'Shout The Sound!' referencing the hymn's opening lyrics and the evangelist's theme, is the setting of this hymn into a modern-day style that would appeal to players and listeners alike.

Composer: arr. Michael Cooper

Composition Style: Song Arrangement

Difficulty: Medium

Notes: The title of this arrangement is a featured lyric within the fourth verse of the popular hymn 'Standing on the Promises' penned by Russell Kelso Carter, who suffered from a serious health crisis at a young age and was originally informed there was no treatment available for his condition. He prayed for healing, committing whatever time he had left to the Lord's service. Carter went on to live for almost another 50 years and wrote this hymn as a personal testimony to the faithfulness of God. This arrangement seeks to emulate life's adventure - its joy, trials, and ultimate victory through 'standing on the promises of God'.

Composer: Robert Lowry/arr. Jared Proellocks

Composition Style: Hymn Arrangement

Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Notes: There are times in our life journey where it only seems fitting to simply cry to the Lord 'I need Thee'. However, in this beautiful hymn by Robert Lowry we are also reminded of the importance of spending time in reflection ('I come to thee'). These two elements (seeking God while coming to him) are central to our faith, and we should be encouraged to do this through all the good, as well as the challenging aspects of life. This wonderful setting by American pianist Greg Howlett provides ample space to reflect on the lyrics over two verses and choruses.

Composer: arr. Sam Creamer

Composition Style: Christmas Arrangement

Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Notes: The works of John Rutter have rightfully made their way into the repertoire of choirs for many years, capturing the ears of audiences and connecting to their hearts. Candlelight Carol is one such work that brings out Rutter's masterful skill as a composer with its enchanting melody and beautiful harmonies, establishing its place as a Christmas favourite for many.  This brass arrangement has been arranged with respect to Rutter's original work as a resource to bands of varied sizes through the Christmas period.
