This page features two risk assessment templates that Corps can use to complete what is called an “Activity Risk Assessment” on the SAMIS database.
There are 2 risk assessment templates:
Corps can copy/paste information that is relevant to their local Red Shield Appeal activities, into SAMIS.
When is MAap required?
- A MAaP is only required if the Corps has supervision and responsibilities for children and young people eg: Local corps are organising a collection with students volunteering from the local school – TSA personnel are supervising/ transporting the children.
- If the above is happening, TSA are responsible for registering and checking all participants have permission to be involved. This is either through volunteer.salvos.org.au or the paper postcard provided as part of the RSA resources.
- Templates have been developed to support completing the MAaP process – see downloads.
- A MAaP is not required if a school is hosting an event to collect money for the RSA. The school have full responsibility for their students and have adequate resources to supervise them as per their school risk plan.
- In this instance, the school must ensure all students have permission to attend and the school has provided a briefing to the students
- If students are coming to the corps for any reason – meeting point, keeping school bags… the corps needs to be mindful of children and young people being in the corps space. This may include :
- Who else will be in the building at this time?
- How are common spaces supervised eg: toilets, kitchens, outdoor areas
- Has the school been informed able their supervision responsibilities
