Fellows Program application form

Thank you for your interest in the 2017 Fellows Program. Please review the form below and ensure you have all information and documentation ready before commencing the application process, as the form cannot be saved midway.

More detail can be found on the form below, however in summary you will need:

  • An agreement with your line manager to apply
  • Your background and employment details
  • Course/conference/program information including costs
  • Brief 100 word summary of course or program
  • Supporting documentation
    • Copy of course information from provider
    • 400-500 word rationale
    • Two written references
    • Latest performance review
  • Line manager approval and Head of Department endorsement.

Please note: In some instances, partial grants may be awarded with the agreement of the applicant to fund the remaining cost from another source. This will be discussed with the applicant upon notification of application outcome.

Supporting Documentation

Please label your files "First Name_Last Name_File Name

The rationale should be uploaded as a Word doc and must include:

  • Benefits of the course/conference/program to The Salvation Army and to you.
  • Relevance of the course/conference/program to your role with The Salvation Army.
  • Reasons to support the application
  • Information regarding how the course/conference/program learning will be disseminated across The Salvation Army

One written reference from your direct line manager - where your line manager is a relative or family member, reference must be obtained from next level of leadership.

Second written reference from a relevant internal TSA source detailing significance of course to your role.

No more than two years old. If you do not have a performance review from 2015 or 2016, please request and complete an interim Performance Review with your line manager. Click here to download a performance review template.

Line manager approval

Please ensure you have already discussed and obtained support from your line manager for your application. Where time off work is required to complete your course or program, an agreement should already be made in regards to leave or any potential impact on your work.

By providing your line managers details and clicking submit, a link to your application will be sent directly to them to review. They will then provide the Head of Department details and click Approve. A link to your application will then be sent directly to your Head of Department to review and click Approve. You will then receive a confirmation email from the Fellows Program committee that your application has been approved and submitted. If you have not received this confirmation email within three days, please remind your line manager to review and submit your application.

Successful applicants are awarded their Fellows scholarship by the Territorial Leadership at an awards ceremony held in Territorial Headquarters in Sydney. Please ensure you have discussed with your line manager the time and cost associatedwith attending and an agreement has been met. Costs associated for successful Volunteers will be covered by the Fellows Committee.

Please note attendance at the ceremony is not a requirement for being awarded a scholarship.
