Fellows Program application form

Thank you for your interest in the 2018 Fellows Program. Please review the form below and ensure you have all information and documentation ready before commencing the application process, as the form cannot be saved midway.

More detail can be found on the form below, however in summary you will need:

  • Approval from your Line Manager and Head of Department to submit an application
  • Your background and employment details
  • Supporting documentation
    • Copy of course information from provider (2 pages)
    • Course Summary in your words
    • 400-500 word rationale
    • Two written references, one from your Line Manager and one from a relevant internal Salvation Army source detailed the relevance of the course to your role (must not be a relative)
    • Latest performance review

Course costs (please use current prices)

Please note: In some instances, partial grants may be awarded with the agreement of the applicant to fund the remaining cost from another source. This will be discussed with the applicant upon notification of application outcome.

COURSE INFORMATION:

Attach course information from education provider (a description of the course/conference/program from the provider including dates and fees ) Maximum 2 pages.

SUMMARY:

RATIONALE:

The rationale should be uploaded as a Word doc and must include:

  • Benefits of the course/conference/program to The Salvation Army and to you.
  • Relevance of the course/conference/program to your role with The Salvation Army.
  • Reasons to support the application
  • Information regarding how the course/conference/program learning will be disseminated across The Salvation Army

REFERENCES:

Attach internal 2 TSA WRITTEN REFERENCES detailing significance of course to your role

First written reference from your direct Line Manager - where your line manager is a relative or family member, reference must be obtained from next level of leadership.

Attach Second written reference from a relevant internal TSA source (must not be a relative or family member) detailing significance of the course to your role (not a character reference).

PERFORMANCE REVIEW:

No more than two years old. If you do not have a performance review from 2016 or 2017, please request and complete an interim Performance Review with your line manager. Click here to download a performance review template.

2 Step Approval Process

Line Manager approval

By providing your Line Managers details and clicking submit, a link to your application will be sent directly to them to review and formally approve.

Once your Line Manager has approved, they will also need to enter their Line Manager or Head of Department's details as a second level of approval is needed. The Head of Department will receive a link to finalise the approval.

Once this has been completed, you will receive a confirmation email from the Fellows program Committee that your application has been approved by both your Manager and their Line Manager or Head of Department.

If you have not received this confirmation email within three days, please remind your Line Manager to review and submit your application.

Presentation Ceremony

Successful applicants are awarded their Fellows scholarship by the Territorial Leadership at an awards ceremony held in Territorial Headquarters. Please ensure you have discussed with your Line Manager regarding the time and cost associated with attending and an agreement has been met. Costs associated for successful Volunteers will be covered by the Fellows Committee.

Leave Arrangements

Please ensure you have already discussed and obtained support from your Line Manager for your application. Where time off work is required to complete your course or program, an agreement should already be made in regards to leave or any potential impact on your work.
