Salvos Legal celebrated reaching 10,000 cases in September.

Salvos Legal has notched up 10,000 cases, celebrating the milestone at an official event in Sydney on 18 September.

The four-year-old law firm provides a free service to clients who would otherwise be unable to afford legal assistance.

“It’s a fantastic moment to see the significant work we have been doing and the fact that it’s been achieved without government funding or any ongoing Salvation Army funding, but rather through a self-sustaining model, shows such a model can have a massive impact in people’s lives,” says Salvos Legal Managing Partner, Luke Geary.

Salvos Legal currently exists in 16 locations across the Australia Eastern Territory and is working towards being in every division by 2020.

While the September event celebrated a 10,000 case milestone, the firm is now close to completing 11,000 cases.

“It is for us a validation that this is a long-term permanent fixture in the legal profession and within the body of The Salvation Army’s humanitarian and social services. We look forward to adding a zero or two to that number,” says Mr Geary.

At the event, Commissioner James Condon, Territorial Commander and James Patterson, Managing Director of CBRE, the event’s host, officially commemorated the significant milestone. Chairman of The Salvation Army Advisory Board and Chairman of Fairfax Media Limited Roger Corbett AO was the master of ceremonies for the celebration.
