Broken Hill Salvation Army will celebrate their 125th Anniversary in an extended celebration over the Easter Long Weekend. Celebration’s commence on Thursday 4 April at 6:30pm with a flag raising and supper, and will conclude on Easter Monday with a picnic lunch.

Special guests include Commissioners Earle and Wilma Maxwell, Majors Rintje and Pam Taekema from the Southern Territory, Majors Stan and Connie Hindle, the Lord Mayor of Broken Hill, as well as local performers including Thelma Stace, Danielle Lee, Channell Burrowes, the Barrier Industrial Union Band, The Broken Hill Community Singers, and much more.

Major Brenda Stace, Corps Officer of Broken Hill says of the event, “we want this to be a time when the prodigals are challenged to return (most are attending at least one event) and where those who have sat on the fringe of the Corps for years begin to become more involved.”

A member of Broken Hill Salvos, Carol, will live blog the event, so check this page over the weekend to see what’s happening!

  1. Praise God for a most effective opening ceremony & flag raising. (I just forgot that daylight savings would be finished....so it was a bit dark for the musicians...) Good Friday service was powerful. Commissioner Earle Maxwell is still a great communicator of the Gospel of jesus Christ. Two people sought prayer at the mercy seat. Hallelujah!!

It is good to see reports of your celebration weekend. Broken Hill has many links to my wider family. My grandmother Amy Walker was an officer there in her early officer days (1930's), I have heard stories of her horse & sulky days in Broken Hill. I have never been to Broken Hill but for this reason it always holds a place in my heart. I would love to see where my "nana" commenced her early officership days. God bless you & your outreach in Broken Hill.

  6. Thanks Rodney. You should plan to visit this wonderful part of God's country. It's a unique place and has a way of getting into one's heart. I love it here and don't plan to leave for a long while.
    Blessings.

What a wonderful report Carol. What a massive work was evident during the whole weekend by The Broken Hill Corps under the leadership of Major Brenda and Kelvin Stace. God was truly evident in all preparations and in the weekend. Our prayer is that all who attended will know and feel the presence of God even more and the need to join with those who worship to enjoy their companionship and witnessing for Jesus in the great city of Broken Hill.
We would all say a big thank you to the locals and our friends who came along with us.
