Australian celebrity chef and nutritionist Zoe Bingley-Pullin is inspiring Salvation Army workers with free health and nutrition seminars and cooking classes.

“What’s so amazing about The Salvation Army is the time and the energy they put into helping others,” Zoe says. “But we often forget how they are and whether or not they are being supported correctly, and that’s why I came on board.”

Zoe wants to encourage Salvation Army workers to live healthy lives so they can keep up the great work they are doing in the community. She’s worked with the Collaroy centre to provide healthier options on its menu, and conducted three health seminars and cooking classes, with three more to come this year.

“It’s all about building the foundation,” Zoe says. “I try to give people some really practical information they can apply straightaway – not something they have to buy or spend time working out.

“These are really simple tools to that will actually help these wonderful workers to increase their energy levels and, or be able to cope with the stress that they are exposed to on a every daily daybasis.

“The response has been great!”

Salvation Army officers and staff have responded positively to Zoe’s practical tips, from deciphering myths from facts on foods and supplements, to the skills to cook affordable and nutritious meals, and the tools to deal with stress. Each delegate also leaves with Zoe’s cookbook.

“The Salvation Army are doing incredible things. They are getting out there and doing what a lot of people don’t want to do, and this is helping people at the most basic level.

“It’s just lovely to be associated with a company that is so ethical and really gives back to the community,” says Zoe.
