Week One: Our Great Reformer
This is the first of a series of four sermons under the topic Unwrapped.
Christmas is a time of celebration, but it also is a time when we are reminded of the much-needed change that needs to occur in our society. The greater message of Christmas is God’s Son, though born in a manger, didn’t stay in that manger, but grew up to change the world and bring transformation. Jesus is the great Reformer of our society.
Week Two: Our Great Shepherd
Week Two of the Unwrapped: Christmas Sermon is on the topic of "The Christmas Shepherd".
In Matthew 2:6 we read, "for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people".
As we get ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we have been taking a fresh approach to the Christmas story by considering the question, “what lies within the baby who lies within the manger?”
Week Three: Saviour
Week Three of the Unwrapped: Christmas Sermon is on the topic of "Introducing Jesus". Luke 2:11-12 says, “Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
As we get ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we have been taking a fresh approach to the Christmas story by considering the question, “what lies within the baby who lies within the manger?”
Week Four: Emmanuel
This is the last of a series of four sermons under the topic Unwrapped.
Jesus, the greatest gift of all, came with a label: The Son of God. And on that label He had His name, a special name assigned to Him by God that would reveal His identity when He was born.
In Matthew 1:21,23 we find out that name: “…she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins…“behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”
