Phillip and Barbara's Story - Salvation Army NSW Rural Chaplains

13 May 2014

Salvation Army Rural Chaplains Majors Peter and Jean Ridley minister to farmers needs, whether that is financial, physical, emotional or spiritual support. Through their ministry in rural New South Wales, they are 'Bringing hope to the bush'.

Farmers Phillip and Barbara Hodges, who own Trebrain Farm in Barraba, first met Majors Peter and Jean when they were visiting farms in 2000 during the drought. A wonderful friendship began, and the Ridley's have been able to take care of Phillip and Barbara's farm when they've needed to go away. Bob Neich, from the Rotary Club of Inverell, shares how their club, over 3 year period, raised money for The Salvation Army rural chaplains.

The Red Shield Appeal would be impossible without the thousands of volunteer collectors who give their time each year to the annual Doorknock. To volunteer, visit our Red Shield Doorknock registration page.
