'The good news of Easter' will be at the heart of all external-facing communications during Easter 2025 and is the primary tagline, particularly for audiences yet to discover Jesus or engage with a Salvo faith community. It is a broad, evangelistic message to varied audiences. It is intended to engage audiences to start a journey of faith, whether through an inspiring video, a hopeful story, or a personal devotional guide.
Why 'The good news of Easter'?
"Good news" means gospel - The word "gospel" comes from the Old English godspel, which means "good news" or "glad tidings." It translates the Greek word euangelion, referring to the announcement of good news, particularly the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Hope for good, even in challenging times: The Easter story assures us that even in difficult circumstances, we can believe that good will prevail - just as Jesus' resurrection followed the darkness of the cross. Isaiah 61:3 (NIV): "...to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning."
An uplifting message for everyone: "Good news" communicates a positive, inclusive message that resonates with people, inviting everyone to experience joy, peace, and transformation.
Good News inspires us to 'Believe in good': The resurrection of Jesus - the heart of the Easter message; the 'good news' of Easter - proclaims the ultimate triumph of good over evil, life over death, and hope over despair. This invites us not only to hear the good news but encourages us to actively believe in the good it promises. 1 Corinthians 15:57 (NIV): "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
