You are invited to join Salvationists around the world for the International Day of Prayer for Victims of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking on Sunday 28 September.

This year’s theme is ‘Light to Life’, inspired by Exodus 3:2 (NIV): ‘There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within the bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire, it did not burn up.’

The Salvation Army is deeply committed to fighting and responding to modern slavery and human trafficking. We have both a theological and historical mandate. Internationally, The Salvation Army’s Freedom Action Framework outlines 8 response areas, including prayer.

We believe prayer is foundational and an essential, powerful tool to fight for freedom and work towards a world free from exploitation. By praying together, our hearts are awakened and aligned with God’s desires, and we are empowered to respond to issues in our community with the love of Jesus. This day of prayer is an opportunity to pray in solidarity with those experiencing or recovering from modern slavery, and to be a part of the transformational work of God.
